Streamlining Your Storage Unit

After I moved everything into a small storage unit down the street, I realized that I needed to think of ways to organize and simplify the space. I started looking through the things that I had, getting rid of items that I didn't need anymore, and working hard to clean up my belongings. It was a lot of work, but I was able to completely overhaul my storage experience by learning to simplify. Check out this blog for more information about streamlining your storage experience and learning how to eliminate problems along the way. You never know, making storage easier might even make you happier.

Streamlining Your Storage Unit

5 Types of Items that Can Be Stored in a Self Storage Unit

by Frank Bennett

Most people use self storage units to store household items they will not need in the near future, or for extra space when their garage or basement just isn't big enough. There are better ways to use your self storage unit however, and these are just a few great ideas for ways to use your storage unit effectively.

Musical Instruments

A lot of people who play piano or the drums typically have their beloved instruments in either their living room or in their basements. For drummers, the loud music produced might not make you welcome in your own home and those learning to play the piano or guitar might annoy those around you after awhile. You can store musical instruments in your storage unit, or even go there to play and practice to your heart's content without bothering anyone.

Sport Vehicles

You can actually store a full-sized car in larger storage units, but another way to use your unit is to store sport vehicles. In the summer, you can store any snowmobiles you have instead of having them in your garage at home. In the winter, store your boats or ATV vehicles where they are kept safe in climate controlled conditions until you are ready to use them again.

Dorm Furniture

A great way to use a self storage unit is to store any not needed dorm furniture for college students. If your student comes home during the summer holidays and gives up their room each year, they will need to store their furniture until the next semester begins. A self storage unit will keep their belongings safe until they are needed again.

Collections

For collectors the biggest issue with their hobby is finding enough space to keep their collections. You might want to change out which collections you have in your home on display, or there might be a valuable collection you want to keep safe. It's also possible you simply don't have enough space in your home for every collection you own. A self storage unit is a great way to store your collections in which you can visit at any time.

Holiday Decorations

If you are a big holiday celebrant you just might have decorations for Halloween, Christmas and even Thanksgiving stored in your basement or attic. That many decorations is going to take up a lot of room, and instead of taking up much needed space in your home, you can use a self storage unit to store your holiday decorations.
